Summary: Most people might think that reptiles aren't exactly model parents. They just shoot their eggs out and leave. And while you may be right in some cases, you couldn't be more wrong when it comes to crocodilians. Especially the big ones.
History: In Southern California, there is something rather unusual. A huge crocodile inhabits a lake there, and his host to a preciously small clutch of eggs. The croc, known as Flat Dog, was introduced to the area as a hotel attraction in the early 1900s, and was actually deified by some folks here, some going as far as to call her a reincarnation of Sobek. Then her nest got destroyed, setting her on the warpath. And worse, some modern teens have gotten a hold of her last egg. Can you guess what happens next?
Notable Kills: Takes out a dock with a guy on it in one bite, and accidentally causes a chain reaction that results in an explosion.
Final Fate: After much croc-related chaos, one of the survivors finally gives Flat Dog her egg back. The egg hatches just in time, and the monstrous reptile leaves with her offspring. Won't be seeing them again...right?
Powers/Abilities: Flat Dog is exceptionally strong, capable of reducing structures to splinters and leaping over boats in a single bound. She is also quite intelligent.
Weakness: Heavy artillery.
Scariness Factor: 3.5-Flat Dog is hobbled by some bad CGI, but shines when the animatronics show up. You will feel that there is indeed a monstrous croc in the water, and when those giant jaws show up, expect a bloodbath. Still, none of this hoo-hah would have happened if we had respected the concept of family.
Trivia: -Crocodilians are notoriously good parents, always staying at the nest until the eggs hatch, and even after that, the babies hitch a ride on her, or his, head.
-Flat Dog's means of getting to California and her previous career as a hotel pet are amusingly similar to Rocky's plight from "Eaten Alive", another film done by this film's director, Tobe Hooper.
